Our counselors come from all over the world! They are at least 18 years old (or graduated from high school), often in college or recently graduated, although many are older than that. We also have junior counselors (no more openings for junior counselors for summer 2012), who must be at least 16 years of age, who assist counselors with the care of campers. Being a counselor at Jabberwocky is often a life-changing experience. Many counselors return for several summers and often go on to work with disabled people in some capacity or in the medical field. No previous experience working with people with disabilities is required, but a good, outgoing, adventurous attitude definitely is! Come prepared to lift campers, feed them, and yes, help them in the bathroom. A summer spent at Jabberwocky is truly hard work, but it’s an awful lot of fun too.
