What is a typical day like?
Fortunately for us, there is no typical day at Jabberwocky! Wouldn't that be boring. That said, we do have some routines we try to stick to. The morning bell usually rings around 7:45am and we eat at 8:30. After that the campers gather to sing or do yoga while counselors straighten up things in the cabins. Then we have morning classes (art, writing, dance, sports, etc) until lunch. If it's nice we try to get to the beach in the afternoon. Everyone in the water! Dinner is usually around 6:30 and evening activities consist of movies in town, dances, game nights, musical performances, etc. Campers are usually in bed before 10pm.

| How will I know if my son or daughter is (or I am) the right fit for Jabberwocky?
The Jabberwocky community is at its best when everyone, counselors and campers alike, is striving to do the most they can with their abilities. We seek to instill enthusiasm and spirit in everyone here, but it is important that those who come are open to this kind of experience. We don’t sit still at Jabberwocky and we encourage self expression. It is not unusual for this atmosphere to be overwhelming for some campers. Please keep this in mind before selecting Jabberwocky as your camp of choice. We have had positive experiences with almost all levels of disability, but we cannot promise overreaching accommodation at the expense of the community as a whole. Campers should be able to sleep through the night without waking others. They should be able to indicate when they need to use the bathroom and not be overly reliant on diapers. They should be able to live within, and enjoy, our adventurous community atmosphere. Just as we ask our counselors to be open to working with any type of camper, we ask the campers to be the same.

What is the tuition?
The stated tuition for Camp is $975 per week. We ask that you pay what you think you can afford. Some of you have asked what our actual costs are so that you have some idea of what to pay. Even though our staff volunteers its time and many services are donated, our expenses exceed $1,000 per week per camper. However, no camper will be denied time at camp because of an inability to pay. | Is it possible to attend for less than the entire month long session?
Although each Camp session is about a month long, it is not uncommon for campers to come for only part of this time. Often if a camper is new and unfamiliar with Camp we’ll have him or her come for a shorter stay to see how things go. The length of time is usually decided by the Camp Directors.

Should I bring my electric wheelchair?
Because of the active nature of Camp, the space restrictions, and frequent trips to the beach, we ask that campers leave electric wheelchairs at home. Bring that human powered chair. We've got plenty of pushing and lifting capability at Jabberwocky!

Can I visit my son or daughter at camp?
We generally discourage parental visits until the last day when you pick up your son or daughter. This helps foster independence and also ensures the parents a much deserved break as well. Many parents find this time to themselves to be quite valuable. Remember, Jabberwocky is for you too! Please note as well that we are unable to offer overnight accommodations to parents, family members or friends at any time.

How do we apply?
We regretfully are unable to accommodate all of the people who wish to attend Jabberwocky. We do try to make room for new campers each summer. If, after reading the materials on this site, you believe that you, or your relative, would be a good candidate a great match for the programs at Jabberwocky, then please complete an application form for the appropriate session. This will be emailed directly to the appropriate director.
